Level I Module I

Introduction to the Process & Vowel Testing

The clarity of the presenter’s delivery was a 5 (5 being excellent). Particularly helpful were the examples of different types of stress within words.

I found the information regarding how to present to potential customers helpful, particularly the questioning technique. Due to my own technical problems, it was very helpful to have the handouts, along with the audio, organized and presented so well.

Intonation Testing and Analysis Basics

Particularly helping was reviewing the essential elements to be included in the initial assessment.

The clarity of the presenter’s delivery and the handouts were excellent.

I was aware of intonation differences, but this workshop gave me direction to help clients develop correct intonation for American English.

What improvements can you suggest for the next offering of this Webinar of this kind? I love the handouts. However, I find myself wishing there was more space on the actual information sheet that pulls all the info together and summarizes it. I take notes on that actual sheet as well. Possibly, maybe double-spacing instead of single-spacing may help. I make use of the margins as well to take notes.

Intonation Testing and Analysis Basics

The overall rating for this event was excellent. Particularly helpful was talking about the types of errors/distortions typically seen, and relating them to the narrow transcription symbols.

All of the information was helpful, but I particularly liked the Target Phoneme sheet and the Consonant Testing Samples. I asked for examples of tongue placement and Lorna did an excellent job of referring me to specific examples in the Consonant Testing Samples.

The close discussion and analysis of the narrow transcription were particularly helpful. The overall rating for this event was excellent.

Instruction: Basic Building Blocks

Examples from Lorna’s work with clients that brought to life some of the information presented were very helpful. Also showing us slides with information from the MEEC booklets that tied in to the information covered was very helpful.

I found dividing the materials by vowels, consonants, and intonation helpful. I can’t say anything was not helpful. I feel I will apply instruction as needed and need to learn how to use the guidelines provided.

Program Design Options: How Much Can I Fit Into This Format?

All was good, but I need to review the content of what should be included in the various programs I would offer. Particularly helpful were the specifics about costing out programs.

Outlining program design options, guidelines for preferred program content, and structuring fees for Accent Programs were helpful.
